Old Hills Hoist Given a New Lease on Life

A family's beloved old Hills Hoist has been saved from the scrap heap and been given a new lease on life thanks to the ingenuity of its owner and chain.com.au customer Nick from Queensland, Australia.

Nick had the novel idea of replacing the broken old clothesline wire with 4mm PVC Coated Galvanised Wire Rope. The chain.com.au team gave Nick a call to discuss his requirements and recommended doing the job with one length of wire instead of the two separate lengths initially requested to avoid the issue of having potentially tricky joins. 

Thanks to Nick's idea, his clothesline works better than ever, as he said the PVC Coated Galvanised Wire Rope doesn't stretch and more securely grips the clothes pegs.

"I purchased 4mm PVC covered galvanised wire rope for use as line on my old Hills Hoist. This is oversized to traditional line, and performs better by not stretching and enabling better punch grip of pegs.

Do it once, do it right. I even received a phone call to confirm if a 100m length would be better for my use than two 50m lengths I’d ordered. Most definitely, now the line is one run without joins. Thank you." - Nick via Google review
